Common problems

Package manager errors

  1. Run: sudo apt update && sudo apt --fix-broken install
  2. Remove stale locks: sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/lock
  3. Send me the exact terminal output if it repeats.

No Wi-Fi after install

  1. Check the adapter: lspci -k | grep -A 3 Network
  2. Install the proprietary driver for your chipset.
  3. Reboot and reconnect.

Boots to a black screen

  1. At GRUB, press 'e' and add nomodeset to the kernel line.
  2. Boot, then install the correct GPU driver.
  3. Update GRUB and reboot.

Disk full / cleaning up

  1. Check usage with: df -h and du -sh /var/*
  2. Clean old packages: sudo apt autoremove && sudo apt clean
  3. Clear old journal logs: sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=7d
